St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that forward Jori Lehtera has signed an Entry Level Contract with the Blues. Lehtera (LEH-ter-uh) was the Blues 3rd round pick (65thoverall) in the 2008 National Hockey Draft Entry Draft.
“Jori had an excellent year this past season as he led the entire Finish League in points,” said Davidson. “Our scouts are very high on him and expect him to be a solid NHL player in the future.”
Lehtera, 22, led the Finish National League in points this past season with 69 points (19 goals, 50 assists) in 57 games and has recorded 158 points (41 goals 117 assists) in 169 games over the past season three seasons for Tappara Tampere in the Finish League.
At the conclusion of his Finish schedule in 2009, Lehtera joined the Peoria Rivermen and made his North American debut on March 21, 2009. He registered an assist in seven regular season games and then collected a goal and an assist in seven playoff games.
