Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today the club has signed forward Chase Polacek (po-LAH-chick) to an amateur tryout contract (ATO).  He will join the team this weekend in San Antonio.

Polacek, 21, just completed his senior season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he led the team in goals (21), points (48), power-play goals (11) and shorthanded goals (4) in 37 games for the Engineers.  He led the nation with nine game-winning goals in 2010-11.  A Hobey Baker Top Ten Finalist, Polacek was named to the All-ECAC first team and the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

The 5-foot-8-inch, 190-pound forward played in all 154 games during his collegiate career and finished 162 points (66 goals, 96 assists).  Before attending R.P.I, the Edina, MN native played his high school hockey for the Academy of Holy Angels where he was a teammate of Rivermen winger Jay Barriball.

The Rivermen open up a three-game road trip by taking on the San Antonio Rampage tonight at 7 p.m.  The game can be heard locally on 96.5 ESPN Radio as well as online through www.rivermen.net.
