Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today the club has signed
forward Yannick Veilleux to an amateur tryout contract (ATO). Veilleux
was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round (#102 overall) in the
2011 NHL Entry Draft.
20, recently completed his fourth season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey
League (QMJHL). This season, his first with Moncton after being acquired from
Shawinigan during the offseason, registered career-highs in goals (34), assists
(39), points (73), and penalty minutes (102). His 21 power-play goals ranked
second in the QMJHL while his seven game-winning goals were fifth.
In his four seasons in the QMJHL, Veilleux appeared in
247 games and registered 188 points (83 goals, 105 assists). The 6-2, 208-pound
right wing is a native of St-Hipolytte, Quebec.
