The Peoria Rivermen are excited to announce their fifth annual “Tip-A-Riv” Dinner will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the Lariat Steakhouse in Peoria. The Rivermen players will be transformed into the wait staff for the evening and all tips generated, as well as proceeds from a live and silent auction, will be donated to the Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association in order to give back to youth hockey in central Illinois.
The event will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. with attendees and players mingling and bidding on silent auction items. At 7 p.m. dinner will be served by the players and a live auction will follow.
Dinner will include Caesar salad, prime rib (or salmon), vegetables, baked potato (or wild rice) and turtle cheesecake. After dinner, and the close of the silent auction at 8 p.m., there will be a live auction and karaoke with the Rivermen players.
Tickets for this fun-filled evening are going fast and are limited. They are on sale now for $60 per seat or $400 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased at the sales table on the Carver Arena concourse during Rivermen home games or by calling Katie Pogeman at (309) 680-3791.
The inaugural “Tip-A-Riv” Dinner was held on March 2, 2009 and raised $5,478 for the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. In its second year, the event was held on March 16, 2011 and generated $6,000 to benefit “Cherish Every Moment – The Dax Locke Foundation. Last year's "Tip-A-Riv" was held on Feb. 27, 2013 and raised $6,617 for Tazewell County Resource Centers.
Organized in 2009, the Peoria Rivermen Alumni Assocation is a non-profit, the Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association (PRAA) is a non-profit organization that utilizes funds to benefit youth hockey in central Illinois. Through fundraising, volunteering and community involvement, the PRAA has been able to give back over $20,000 thus far.
