Peoria Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel has announced that winger Jeremiah Ketts (pictured) has been waived. In addition, rookie winger Locke Jillson has been signed to a full-season contract following his three-game tryout.

Ketts was initially signed to a three-game tryout on Jan. 1 before agreeing to a full-season contract on Jan. 7. Over 21 games for the Rivermen, the Foristell, Missouri native collected seven points (1g, 6a), with four of those points coming in his first three games. Ketts notched his only multi-point game (1g, 1a) in his Rivermen debut during a 3-0 win over Bloomington on New Year’s Day.

 

Last year, the 26-year-old made 30 appearances in the SPHL between the Mississippi Surge, Huntsville Havoc and Pensacola Ice Flyers. He also played in a pair of games for the Tulsa Oilers (CHL). The 5’10, 185-pound center made his pro debut with the Reading Royals (ECHL) in 2011-12 following a four-year career at Johnson and Wales University in North Miami, Florida.

 

Jillson, 25, was signed to a three-game tryout on Feb. 21 and appeared in each of Peoria’s three games during its recent road trip to Mississippi and Louisiana. Last year, the 5’10, 170-pound forward began his pro career with the Fort Worth Brahmas in the Central Hockey League, where he made his debut on Nov. 11, 2012. Prior to turning pro, Jillson played four seasons at Cornell University from 2008-2012. Over 124 career games, he collected 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points.

 

A native of Dallas, Texas, Jillson played one season of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2007-08. He spent the first 32 games that season with the Des Moines Buccaneers and an additional 16 contests with the Indiana Ice. was drafted in the second round, #17 overall in the 2007 USHL Entry Draft by Des Moines.

 

The Rivermen return home tonight for a 7:15 p.m. puck drop against the Louisiana IceGators at Carver Arena.
