Peoria Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel announced Monday the team’s final playoff roster, consisting of 16 skaters and two goaltenders. The 18-man roster designates the players eligible to compete in the 2014 President’s Cup Playoffs.

According to the Southern Professional Hockey League’s playoff guidelines, only those players listed on a team’s final roster are eligible to compete in the postseason, unless emergency conditions arise. Should a team lose two or more players to injuries that would require them to miss the remainder of the playoffs, a replacement player may be added subject to the league’s approval. The replacement player must be considered an amateur.

The following players comprise Peoria’s final playoff roster:

Goaltenders (2): Kevin Carr, Kyle Rank

Forwards (10): Chris Greene, Adam Hartley, Taylor Larsen, Steve Morra, Nick Prockow, Parker Stanfield, Garrett Vermeersch, Matt Viola, Kyle Watson, Dean Yakura

Defenseman (6): Charlie Carkin, Adam Feniak, Ben Oskroba, Jarrett Rush, Cole Ruwe, Joe Schiller

The roster does not include forwards Alex Mentink and Rob Vanwynsberghe (three-game tryout), who have each been released.

“Coach Tucker and I are both extremely happy with the roster we have,” Trudel said. “The hardest decision was letting Mentink go. Versatility, loyalty and the salary cap all played a factor.”

“We were pleased with how things went in practice this morning and we are very excited to get the playoffs started.”

Mentink, 22, appeared in 12 games for the Rivermen this season and collected six points (3g, 3a) and 17 penalty minutes. He spent nearly three months on the injured reserve with an upper-body injury. A native of Joliette, Quebec, Mentink began the season with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL), where he produced 12 penalty minutes in seven games.

Vanwynsberghe, 27, played nine games for Peoria this season over the course of three separate three-game tryouts. He recorded three goals and four assists during that span. A native of London, Ontario, Vanwynsberghe spent 41 games in the Federal Hockey League between Danbury, Danville and Dayton. He notched 55 points (26g, 29a) and 33 penalty minutes.
