Nikita Nikitin and Todd Perry Added to Rivermen Roster

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club assigned defenseman Nikita Nikitin (NICK–it–in) to the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald has announced that the Rivermen have signed defenseman Todd Perry to a professional tryout contract and released Marc-Antoine Desnoyers from his PTO.
Nikitin, 24, has made 13 appearances with the Blues this season serving four penalty minutes. The 6’3, 217-pound defenseman has played in four games with Peoria recording a goal and a plus-1 rating. The Omsk, Russia native was originally drafted by St. Louis in the fifth round, 136th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Perry, 24, joins the Rivermen from ECHL Reading where he has nine points (two goals, seven assist) and 44 penalty minutes in 23 games. The fourth-year pro has 105 games of AHL experience as a member of the Toronto Marlies for parts of the last three seasons. He spent the majority of last season with the Marlies, appearing in 27 games and registering three points (one goal, two assists). He was reassigned to the Reading Royals on April 5 and became a key part of their 16-game run to the American Conference finals.
Desnoyers, 21, appeared in Peoria’s 5-2 win over Grand Rapids on Friday and recorded two penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating. He will return to the ECHL Elmira Jackals where he has appeared in 12 games and collected four points and a plus-4 rating. A rookie from St. Jerome, Que,, he attended training camp this year with the Montreal Canadiens (NHL) and Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL).
Peoria will host Grand Rapids tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Carver Arena to start a three-game homestand. The Rivermen are 9-0-2 in their last 11 games, the longest point-streak in the AHL this season. Tickets can be purchased online through www.rivermen.net or over the phone by calling (309) 676-1040.
