Beach, Ponich and Barriball Return

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the St. Louis Blues have reassigned forward Cody Beach and defenseman Brett Ponich to the Rivermen from their ECHL affiliate, the Evansville IceMen. The club has also reassigned forward Jay Barriball to Peoria from the Central Hockey League's Bloomington Blaze.
Beach, 20, played in 13 games for the IceMen during his most recent ECHL assignment. He scored once and picked up seven assists along with 41 penalty minutes. Overall this season, Beach has seen action in 22 games with Evansville and has nine points (two goals, seven assists) and 81 penalty minutes. He made his AHL debut on Nov. 8 against Charlotte and has five assists in seven games with Peoria. He has also collected 24 penalty minutes.
Ponich, 21, skated in nine games for the Rivermen before being injured on Nov. 9. He registered 22 penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating over that time and was assigned to Evansville on Dec. 3. In 13 games, the 6-foot-7-inch defenseman had a goal and two assists and posted a plus-3 rating. His goal, on Dec. 16 against Wheeling, was the first of his professional career.
Barriball, 25,appeared in two games with Bloomington last week and earned an assist in Saturday's win over Arizona. He has not played for the Rivermen since he was injured on Oct. 12, 2012 during the first game of the season. Last season, injuries limited the Burnsville, MN native to just 21 games in which he registered 13 points (four goals, nine assists) and 14 penalty minutes.
