Opponent: @Texas Stars
Date: December 8, 2012 7:00 PM
Score(Home/Away): 4-1 L

Jaden Schwartz gave the Peoria Rivermen an early lead, but it proved to be the team's only goal in a 4-1 loss to the Texas Stars on Saturday night. Both Matt Fraser and Reilly Smith scored a pair of goals as the Stars peppered Jake Allen with 43 shots on goal.
The Rivermen (7-11-2-2, 18 pts) are now 1-1-0-0 to start their five-game road trip.
The game started with three fights in the opening 5:57 as the two teams met for the second time in six days. Following Mike Hedden's hit on Anthony Nigro, for which he received a boarding minor, Taylor Chorney dropped the gloves with Hedden. Less than 4 minutes later, Chris Bruton fought Antoinne Roussel off a faceoff and Anthony Peluso squared off with Francis Wathier. Peluso was assessed an extra two minutes for roughing which lead to Peoria's lone goal.
While shorthanded, Schwartz stole a puck inside the Stars' zone and backhanded it past Cristopher Nilstorp for his second goal in as many games. The unassisted goal was scored at 7:24.
Texas tied the game a mere 36 seconds later as Smith scored his first of the night from Cody Eakin and Maxime Fortunus.
The second period belonged to Fraser as his two goals in 4:25 to build Texas a 3-1 lead. Travis Morin set him up for a one-timer at 4:01 and then Fraser cleaned up Morin's rebound at 8:26 for his ninth of the season.
In the third, Smith capitalized on a five-on-three power play to increase the lead to 4-1.
Texas outshot Peoria 44-23 and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Peoria was 0-for-4 on the man advantage.
The Rivermen continue their road trip on Sunday in Houston at 5:05 p.m. All games can be heard on CD Country 107.9 FM or online through www.rivermen.net.
