PEORIA, IL— The Peoria Rivermen announced on Wednesday that they have completed a trade with the Fayetteville Marksmen that will send former Goaltender of the Year Colby Muise to North Carolina in exchange for defenseman Nick Parody and future considerations.

Colby Muise was a key piece for the Rivermen’s regular-season title in 2024-2. The native of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Muise accounted for 31 of Peoria’s 40 regular-season victories. Muise also set the pace for all goaltenders in the SPHL with the best goals-against average (1.68), the best save percentage (.933), and the most shutouts (8) in the league this year.

Muise set a new SPHL single-season record for lowest goals-against average this season and tied the single-season shutout record set by former Rivermen and Marksmen netminder Kyle Rank. Muise also established the second-longest scoreless streak by a goaltender at 230 minutes and nine seconds.

Parody, a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is entering his third full season of professional hockey. Parody has spent the last two seasons on the back-end for the Fayetteville Marksmen and boasts 20 points (one goal, 19 assists) and a “+3” plus/minus rating in two seasons in the SPHL. Parody also boasts ECHL experience, having played 12 games with the Rapid City Rush. Before joining the Marksmen, Parody played both Division I and Division III college hockey for Canisius College and Elmira College, respectively.

As a part of the trade, the Rivermen also gained future considerations from the Marksmen to be named at a later date.

The Rivermen will start their 44th season in Peoria on Saturday, October 18, as they take on the Quad City Storm in Moline, IL. After that, the Rivermen will host their home-opener on Friday, October 24, against the Fayetteville Marksmen. Season tickets for the 44th season of Rivermen hockey are now on sale.
