The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) has announced that its Board of Governors has unanimously approved the Bloomington Blaze and Peoria Rivermen to join the league for the 2013-2014 season.
The Rivermen are the newest member of the Southern Professional Hockey League. There are 10 teams in the SPHL in Illinois, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.
The Rivermen will not only have a new league but also a brand new look for the 2013-14 season. A revamped logo and color scheme is a throwback to the original Captain's wheel from the 1984-85 season.
